Challenge: To generate enthusiasm and encourage attendees to mingle at the corporate convention.

Solution: The restaurant chain adopted a "Return to Oz" theme for the opening event of its convention for franchisees. As the attendees entered the room, they were given a "Following the Yellow Brick Road" winner's ribbon in theme graphics. A "Yellow brick road" in the party hall led to the four food stations. At each station, the attendee was presented a different lapel pin symbolizing the Wizard of Oz characters: Dorothy (red shoes), the Scarecrow (diploma), the Lion (badge of courage), the Tin Man (red heart). The lapel pins were to be affixed to the ribbons.

Results: Lots of enthusiasm and mingling between food stations.
